What do power plants and IT infrastructure have in common?A lot actually. For this issue of the Enformer, we discuss IT managed services. To better understand what exactly we mean by “managed” services, consider this analogy - If you need electricity, you buy your power from the power company. They have built the infrastructure to cost-effectively deliver the service to you. If you need IT services, you buy them from an IT managed services provider. In return, you get reliability and productivity for a predictable monthly fee. Just like you trust that when you flip on the light switch the light turns on, you’ll trust in the reliability of IT services. Growing companies are increasingly offloading non-core services to experts, making their businesses more operationally efficient and agile, resulting in a competitive advantage.A few years ago big companies always built their own data centers and small companies built bigger closets. But IT is being redefined as we know it. When Bill Gates stated, "The next sea change is upon us." he recognized that the turnkey managed services model is swiftly becoming a commonplace, reliable, and affordable choice for small to mid-size businesses. The results? Increased operational efficiency, business agility, and a competitive advantage. We’re seeing this trend among our clients—from the leading statewide courier service, to a well known comic book and collectibles firm, to a biometrics startup, to a global financial services company. Everyone is talking about IT managed services. Ensynch’s EnDemand suite of managed services range from server colocation to a fully managed and supported, turnkey IT solution. New in 2006 we’ve increased our help desk and operations support to 24x7 to meet the needs of our growing customers. By providing highly available, cost-effective and fully redundant solutions, we believe we’re ahead of the curve in offering enterprise-level managed IT services to Arizona’s smaller (but growing) companies. – Gene Holmquist
President Ensynch, Inc Hot Technologies for 2006New Game-Changer: Metropolitan Optical EthernetsA new technology has emerged in the telecomm arena that is "twice as fast and 30% lower cost compared to a normal DS3 connection," according to Ensynch's Hunter Bennett. It's called Metropolitan Optical Ethernet. Don't worry if you've never heard of it before, you will soon enough. Here in Arizona we're already reaping the benefits of one of Qwest's newest products, Qwest Metropolitan Optical Ethernet, or QMOE. Ensynch sees this as being a revolutionary advancement, providing unprecedented value in high speed connectivity at a lower cost than anything that has come before it. Most businesses are going to measurably cut costs and see performance gains compared to what they're using today. Have we made our point yet?
Business Process BreakthroughsGaining Confidence and Control - Managed Services? What if I were to tell you that you could increase control of your IT infrastructure without adding resources, buying additional software or tools, or spending time and money on process development and execution? Would you believe me? What if I told you that while you were increasing control through a small paradigm shift in thinking, you could increase the confidence of the business and your users in IT’s ability to support the basic functions of the business and, perhaps, gain a platform to show how IT can actually be strategic to the business. Would you believe me? Ted is an information systems VP for a mid-size company. After working at this company for 2 years, Ted was taking detours to his office to avoid the gauntlet of end users who wanted to address email and application performance issues, among other things. An interesting fact about Ted is that 2 years ago, he was hired into IT to help the organization get its software products to market more quickly. But, for the last two years, Ted had spent the majority of his time building up staff and supporting the company’s IT infrastructure... – Scott Johnson
